In the skies. For a few hours this Sunday, an open field in Mount Pleasant will become the county’s busiest airport. The Racine R/C Club expects dozen of remote-control model aircraft enthusiasts for its annual Fly-in from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at its flying field, 10530 Washington Ave. (Hwy. 20), Mount Pleasant. It’s free for spectators to come out and watch the flying and learn more about the R/C aircraft hobby. The entry fee to fly an aircraft is $5. At the Zoo. One of the area’s oldest and largest car shows is this Sunday. The 23rd Annual Racine Zoo Car, Truck and Bike Show will feature nearly 400 classic vehicles on the Zoo grounds, 2131 N. Main St., from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. More than 75 trophies will awarded in car, truck and motorcycle categories. There will also be a DJ playing music and food available for purchase. Zoo admission for Sunday only is $5 per person. The vehicle registration fee is $15 in advance (online or at the Zoo office) or $20 day of show starting at 8 a.m. at the Goold Street entrance. Special music. The Music & More Concert Series wraps up its 2018 season with a special concert at First Presbyterian Church, 716 College Ave., at 7 p.m. Friday. The performers are singer/guitarists Mark Paffrath, Jeff Ward and Zachary Scot Johnson plus the 60-voice Choral Arts Society of Southeastern Wisconsin. Admission is $10 at the door. Proceeds will be donated to the Health Care Network, Hospitality Center and the Racine Arts Council’s LINK (Lonely Instruments Need Kids) program.
Hoppin’ Saturday. Origins of Hip-Hop 7 is an annual celebration of hip-hop culture presented by Family Power Music and Wily’s Sole Kitchen. The event includes competitions in breakdancing, MCing, DJing and graffiti art. Register at the event. Origins of Hip-Hop runs from 4 to 10 p.m. at Smoke’d on the Water, 3 Fifth St., Racine. Free admission.
Pair in Caledonia. Head to the Village of Caledonia for two of the area’s favorite church festivals. You’ll experience great food, live music, games and more. St Rita Festival runs from Friday through Sunday at 4339 Douglas Ave. Evening entertainment headliners are Bella Cain on Friday, Cherry Pie on Saturday and The Britins on Sunday. Free admission. Parking is $5 per vehicle after 5 p.m. St. Louis Parish Festival is Saturday and Sunday at 13207 Hwy G. Saturday music is Larry Lynne Band and Sunday music features include the Bob Korosa Polka Band and the Do-Wa-Wa’s. Free admission.
