Deputies with the Racine County Sheriff’s Department had a busy Thursday evening and Friday morning after they responded to two crashes. One resulted in a man being seriously injured. The other person suffered non-life threatening injuries.
Motorcyclist hospitalized after crashing into ditch
RAYMOND – A motorcyclist suffered severe injuries in a single-vehicle crash Thursday night on County Trunk Highway K west of 108th Street.
The driver was traveling eastbound on Highway K when he went into a southside ditch, struck a traffic sign, and when through an electric animal fence, according to a press release by the Racine County Sheriff’s Department.
Rescue personnel from the Raymond Fire Department responded to the scene of the crash. They determined the man needed to be taken by Flight for Life to Froedtert Hospital in Milwaukee.
“The Wisconsin State Patrol traffic accident reconstruction team also responded to the
scene to assist in the accident investigation. At this time the accident is still under
investigation,” the press release reads.
Car found hanging over barrier wall
YORKVILLE – In a separate incident, deputies with the Racine County Sheriff’s Department also responded to a crash where a car was “hanging over the east barrier wall of the interstate” in a construction zone.
The driver, who was transported to Ascension All Saints Hospital, suffered non-life threatening injuries. The crash happened at 1:40 a.m. Friday morning on Interstate 94 at County Trunk Highway KR, according to a press release by the Racine County Sheriff’s Department.
The driver told the deputies that his car was struck by a semi and “pushed into and on top of the barrier wall.” The semi-tractor trailer was found on the Interstate by the 27th Street off-ramp.
“Upon investigating the accident it was learned that the struck vehicle had hydroplaned and spun out on standing water on the interstate and was then hit by the semi. The northbound
lanes of the interstate were shut down for approximately one hour for this accident,” according to the press release.
