A 27-year-old  man was hospitalized after he was shot in the back Tuesday night on 12th Street near South Memorial Drive.

The man was shot at 9:17 p.m. Tuesday during an argument with another person, said Sgt. Adam Malacara, of the Racine Police Department. The victim ran to the area of 12th Street and Lockwood Avenue.

“He was transported to Ascension Hospital and then transferred to Froedtert.  His condition is unknown,” Malacara said.

No one is in custody at this time and the incident is still under investigation.
