Racine County Eye just received a grant to pay for mobile technology platform to reach readers that may not have access to the internet. The reason why this technology is important is that we know a substantial number of people in our community own cell phones, but don’t have internet access. This will help us reach an entire audience that currently don’t get the news.

In a few weeks we’ll be able to send text messages around certain topics. We plan on using this technology in the news gathering process and to distribute information to readers. Topics can range from job listings, construction updates, events, police news, or election updates. But we’re also looking for input on what information you’d like to see us cover. Email your ideas to denise@racinecountyeye.com.

We’ll also be looking for sponsors of these lists. If you are interested, please reach out to tcoombs@racinecountyeye.com.
