A worker with the Mount Pleasant public works department has died as the result of injuries sustained in a Monday accident. According to published reports, 61-year-old Dan Huck was struck by a car.

According to police reports, Mount Pleasant officers responded to a car accident involving a pedestrian at Highway 31 near Shirley Avenue. Northbound traffic was diverted for more than two hours hours.

The female motorist, 55, from Mount Pleasant was traveling northbound on Highway 31 (Green Bay Road) when her vehicle collided with the worker. He suffered life-threatening injuries and was transported by helicopter to a Milwaukee hospital.

The worker was outside of his truck wearing reflective clothing when the collision occurred, according to police department press release. The driver was cooperative during her interview with investigators. Alcohol was not believed to be a factor.

UPDATE

According to a Tuesday morning update from the Mount Pleasant Police Department,
Huck was marking utility locations along the median of Highway 31 when he was struck. Huck was employed by the Village of Mount Pleasant for 22 years.

The driver of the vehicle has been identified as Amy Hoecherl, 55, of Mount Pleasant.
