MOUNT PLEASANT – Mount Pleasant Police are searching for two male suspects in an armed robbery that took place at Tuesday night at Willkomm Mobil, 6840 Washington Ave.
The pair also led law enforcement officials from several agencies on a high-speed chase that ended along the westbound off-ramp of Interstate 94 at County Trunk Highway C. The men are “still at large and should be considered armed and dangerous,” according to a press release by the Mount Pleasant Police Department.
During the armed robbery at Willkomm, no shots were fired. The two males fled in a red Chevrolet pick-up truck, which had been stolen out of Aroma Park, IL.
“The vehicle left west bound on Washington Avenue and the suspects were described as two male blacks armed with handguns,” the press release reads.
Officers with the Mount Pleasant Police Department spotted the truck as it entered I-94 going southbound. During the pursuit, the driver sped away at a high rate of speed. Deputies from the Kenosha County Sheriff’s Department caught up with the males. They deployed spike strips and struck the passenger side tire, which deflated the tire and slowed the vehicle down.
Exiting the Interstate at the westbound County Trunk Highway C exit, the driver started to slow down. But then turned into AAA Tentmaster, 15828 93rd St. The armed robbery suspects then attempted to turn around in the lawn.
“Due to the low speeds on the grass and the vehicle driving on a rim, and the threat posed to the public by the armed suspects, a Mt Pleasant Police Officer in his marked squad struck the suspect vehicle into a tree line to end the pursuit. The occupants of the vehicle then fled NE into a wooded area,” according to the press release.
Law enforcement officials from the Kenosha Sheriffs Department, Pleasant Prairie Police Department, Racine County Sheriffs Department and the Wisconsin State Patrol then set up a perimeter. Police dogs were used to track the suspects and neighbors were notified in the area that the suspects were at-large.
Unable to find the men, officials with the Mount Pleasant Police Department are still investigating.
