A 30-year-old Racine man faces six felony charges and one misdemeanor after a series of undercover drug purchases last year.
Joseph Jones is charged with three felony counts of delivery of a schedule I or II narcotic, which each carry a fine of $50,000 and 15 years in prison, along with three felony counts of maintaining a drug-trafficking place, which each carry a fine of $10,000 and three years, six months in prison.
Jones also is charged with a misdemeanor count of bail jumping, which carries a fine of $10,000 and nine months in county jail.
According to the criminal complaint: Officers with the Racine County Sheriff’s Office Metro Drug Unit arranged an undercover drug purchase from Jones last October.
A confidential informant met with Jones and purchased 13 Oxycodone pills. A second purchase of two Oxycodone pills was made at Jones’ residence, 1237 Carlisle Ave., on Nov. 13, 2017.
On May 3, an informant purchased three Oxycodone pills from the defendant at the residence on Carlisle Avenue.
Court records indicate that Jones was free on bond in a misdemeanor battery/disorderly conduct case at the time of the May 3 purchase, and as a condition of that bond, was ordered not to commit any new crimes, which led to the bail-jumping charge.
Jones is due back in court Nov. 1 for an 8:30 a.m. preliminary hearing.
