An 18-year-old man was shot to death Wednesday night in the 1900 block of Prospect Street.
The name of the man has not been released pending notification of family members, according to a press release by the Racine Police Department.
On Wednesday, Racine Police responded to the 1900 block of Prospect Street for calls of gun shots being heard in the area. Officers arrived in the area and located a victim suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim died at the scene.
The victim has been identified as Vyshonn Avitia, 18.
RPD stated that the investigation is active and closed off from the public. The department asks ask that people stay from the area until the scene is released by investigators. Any additional details on the incident will be given in an updated release Friday.
