A 23-year-old Racine man faces a felony charge of intoxicated use of a vehicle causing great bodily harm after a head-on collision Sept. 16.

The felony charge filed Thursday in Racine County Circuit Court against Dandre Renard Obee carries a fine of $25,000 and 12 years, six months in prison.

According to the criminal complaint: A Racine County Sheriff’s Department officer on patrol observed a Chevrolet Coupe traveling eastbound on Highway K strike a westbound semi-truck head on.

A passenger in Obee’s vehicle had a visible injury to her right shoulder and told the officer she believed her ribs were broken. Obee told the officer he crossed over the center line because he was having mechanical issues with his vehicle.

While speaking with Obee, the officer detected an odor of intoxicants. Obee stated he had consumed two drinks and stopped drinking about midnight.

A preliminary breath test at the scene showed a blood alcohol content of 0.080. A legal blood draw also was performed at the hospital.

Police also learned the passenger had suffered a fractured clavicle. Obee made his initial court appearance Thursday.
