A reckless driver traveling in Mount Pleasant Friday afternoon faces 10 criminal charges, including one felony, according to a criminal complaint filed Friday in Racine County Circuit Court.
Elizabeth Michelle Moore, 31, Racine, was charged with a felony count of attempting to flee or elude an officer, which carries a fine of $10,000 and three years, six months in prison.
Moore also faces nine misdemeanors, including five counts of bail jumping, along with operating a motor vehicle while revoked, possession of cocaine, possession of drug paraphernalia and resisting an officer.
The misdemeanors carry a total fine of $68,000 and more than six years in county jail.
According to the criminal complaint: A Racine County Sheriff’s Department officer observed the defendant’s vehicle driving recklessly through traffic on Wisconsin Highway 31.
After a pursuit, the vehicle came to an abrupt stop, and the driver, later identified as Moore, began to attempt to flee, but the officer was able to detain her. During a search, the officer removed Moore’s hat, and two glass pipes fell to the ground. Moore was able to break one with her foot.
Police also determined that Moore had a small amount of cocaine in her mouth that she was attempting to swallow.
During a search with the use of a K-9 officer, police recovered additional items of drug paraphernalia.
Court records indicate that Moore has an open misdemeanor case in Kenosha and was free on bond. As a condition of that bond, she was ordered not to commit additional criminal offenses.
Moore will be back in Racine County Circuit Court Nov. 7 for a 9 a.m. preliminary hearing.
