A 33-year-old Racine man faces 10 misdemeanor charges after a two-vehicle accident Sunday night.
DeJarvis T. Reasor was charged with four counts of operating while intoxicated/causing injury, four misdemeanor counts of negligent operation of a vehicle, a misdemeanor count of disorderly conduct and a misdemeanor count of resisting an officer.
The misdemeanors carry a total fine of $59,000 and 11 years in county jail.
According to the criminal complaint: Racine police responded to the intersection of 12th Street and South Memorial Drive at 7:43 p.m., and when they arrived, found two vehicles with significant damage.
The driver of the vehicle hit by the defendant stated he was going through a green light when Reasor’s vehicle drove through the intersection and struck his vehicle.
The victim, who also had three passengers in his vehicle, stated it didn’t appear that Reasor slowed down before impact.
While speaking with Reasor, police detected an odor of intoxicants from him and from within the vehicle. When he was asked to perform field sobriety tests, the defendant asked for medical treatment. He was taken to the hospital by ambulance and again refused to complete requested tests.
Police obtained a warrant for a legal blood draw, but Reasor refused and resisted, which required multiple officers and hospital security to keep him under control. Hospital personnel eventually were able to take Reasor’s blood, which was sent to a lab for further analysis.
All four of the occupants of the other vehicle required medical treatment for their injuries.
Reasor made his initial court appearance Tuesday. He is due back Dec. 13 for a pre-trial conference at 3:15 p.m.
