A 26-year-old Kenosha man faces three felony charges after he allegedly broke into his ex-girlfriend’s Mount Pleasant home in September.
Evan Allen Eskola was charged Thursday in Racine County Circuit Court with felony counts of burglary, forgery and identity theft.
The three felonies carry a total fine of $45,000 and 24 years, six months in prison.
According to the criminal complaint: A Mount Pleasant police officer spoke with the victim, who stated that someone stole her television. The woman stated the dead bolt had not been locked and believed the suspect slid the door lock open, which she said her ex-boyfriend, the defendant, has been able to do in the past by sliding a plastic card between the door and the frame.
A neighbor told police that he saw a white truck near the residence that had been occupied by two people. The woman informed police that Eskola drives a white Chevrolet Silverado.
The following day, police learned that the television had been sold by Eskola to EZ Pawn in Waukegan, Ill. Video surveillance showed the defendant selling the television. Eskola’s aunt also told police that he admitted to taking the television and selling it to the pawn shop.
On Sept. 19, the victim reported that a check for $150 had been written to the defendant and signed with her name, but that she did not sign it. She told police the only check missing from the checkbook was the one made out to the defendant.
Eskola made his initial court appearance Thursday.
