The Racine Heritage Museum is featuring an Alfonso Iannelli exhibit from Dec.1 to Oct. 31 called “Blessings to Blenders.” It is showcasing the works of 20th century Italian-American designer, architect, and sculptor Alfonso Iannelli (1888-1965).
Some of Iannelli’s works include many sculptures, product designs for advertising, and works based on a liturgy. The collection of works on display include charcoal studies for the stained-glass windows at St. Patrick’s Church, marketing materials and products for Oster Manufacturing, and advertising for Horlick Malted Milk Co. Also, Iannelli was hired by famous designer Frank Lloyd Wright to create sculptures for a Midway Gardens project in Chicago.
Iannelli’s exhibit is curated by scholars including, Tim Samuelson, cultural historian for the City of Chicago; David Jameson, author of “Alfonso Iannelli: Modern by Design” and “The Industrial Designs of Alfonso Iannelli,” and designer Eric O’Malley, who are all from Chicago.
The Racine Heritage Museum is located at 701 Main Street and is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday and from noon to 4 p.m. on Sunday. There is no admission fee.
