On Monday at approximately 2:00 a.m., Mount Pleasant officers responded to a report of four people engaging in a fight in the apartment parking lot at 645 S. Green Bay Road.

A vehicle fled the scene after the fight. It was stopped by police moments later on Highway 31 (Green Bay Road).
Officers pulled over the vehicle. Officers determined that at least one of the occupants, Traziyan Wadlington, was involved in the fight. He appeared to have fresh injuries and to be under the influence of alcohol.

Wadlington exited the vehicle, according to MPPD, and did not follow directions from officers. He displayed violent arm movements towards officers when attempts were made to physically escort him to the side of the road. Officers were unable to restrain Wadlington. His actions put the officers and him at risk as he moved into the traffic lanes, a statement from MPPD noted.

One officer used an electronic Taser device to combat Wadlington. He was transported to a hospital and then to jail. A referral was forwarded to the DA’S office for the criminal offenses of resisting arrest and disorderly conduct. Other suspects involved in the fight reportedly left the scene prior to the arrival of police. This case remains under investigation by the Mount Pleasant Police Department.

A release from MPPD stated that, in order for officers to safely take the subject into custody, use of a Taser was necessary. This action did not result in any significant injury to the suspect or officers.
