A Racine Police officer was placed on administrative leave Thursday night after he shot at a man who was driving a car towards him in the 1600 block of Boyd Avenue.
The officer responded at 8:23 p.m. Thursday to where the “known wanted party” was reported to be. As the officer got out of his squad, the man got into his car and sped towards the officer. He shot at the car to stop him, but the man was able to get away and has not been found as of Friday morning, according to a press release by the Racine Police Department.
The name of the man, the nature of what he was wanted for, his physical description, and the make and model of the car the man was driving were not released because the investigation is ongoing.
“The officer involved is a five-year veteran of the police department,” the press release reads. “The officer was not injured and will be on administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation.
