The votes are in. Downtown Racine Corporation‘s (DRC) first ever Holiday Window Decorating Competition has come to an end. There were 17 downtown merchants who participated in this competition. They adorned their windows with decorations conveying the warmth, ironically, of the holiday season. All voting between November 10th and December 17th was taken into account for the competition. There was a total of 1,800 votes cast.
The winner of the competition, receiving 282 votes, is Lighthouse Gallery & Gifts, 306 Main Street. Their display had a lovely arrangement of a Christmas tree, a faux fireplace, and a teddy bear in a rocking chair, and this display most comprehensively communicated the spirit of the holiday season.
Second place, collecting a total of 257 votes, goes to Northern Lights Gallery, 423 Main Street. Third place, with 203 votes, goes to Lakeview Pharmacy, 516 Monument Square.
“This competition was a creative way to get the community to visit downtown and enjoy the festive holiday decorations, both in the stores and throughout the streets. Downtown truly turns into a magical place this time of year, and I applaud all the merchants that went the extra mile to make it just that,” said Kelly Kruse, Executive Director of the DRC.
The displays will be available for your viewing pleasure until December 26. There will be free parking Saturday, Sunday, and Monday.
