A Racine man was charged with trespassing after he wandered around Ascension-All Saints Hospital for three days drinking vodka and beer before staff confronted him.
Kiron Price, 33, was charged by the Racine County District Attorney’s Office with misdemeanor counts of trespassing to a medical facility and bail jumping. If convicted of both charges, Price faces up to a year in prison and/or fined up to $11,000.
According to the criminal complaint, officers with the Racine Police Department were called to Ascension All Saints Hospital, 3803 Spring St., for a report of Price trespassing and drinking inside the hospital for three days.
Security officials at the hospital told police that a nurse on the fourth floor of the hospital found Price “wandering the hallway, consuming alcohol.” When they confronted him, he had a bottle of vodka and two cans of malt beverage.
Price asked for help for alcohol detoxification and was seen by ER staff. They medically cleared him but told him he was trespassing and discharged him from the hospital. They then had officers arrest him for trespassing, who then took him to the Racine County Jail.
Ascension closed its psychiatric intensive care unit in 2016, which is where he would have been taken to detox.
Price is in custody at the Racine County Jail on a $200 cash bond. A status conference has been set for 9:15 a.m. Jan. 28 at the Racine County Courthouse.
