Mount Pleasant, WI – No one was injured after a fire ripped through an attached garage, which caused extensive damage to a home at 2023 Spring Meadow Lane Friday night.
A good Samaritan saw smoke coming from the garage and alerted the homeowner at 11:15 p.m.
“Due to the quick action of this individual, residents of the home were able to all escape the home without any injuries,” according to a press release by the Mount Pleasant Fire Department.
Firefighters from the South Shore Fire Department responded to the scene and found the garage fully engulfed in flames. While trying to contain the fire, the roof on the garage collapsed. The two cars in the garage and the garage itself are a complete loss.
Investigators determined that the fire started outside of the garage near a wood pile because they found extensive heat, water and smoke damage to the rest of the residence.
Anyone with information on this incident or witnessed should call the Mt. Pleasant Police Department at 884-0454 option #4.
