Frederick Lee Wensing Jr., age 90, passed away on Saturday, Jan. 5, 2019 at his home. He was born Nov. 21, 1928 in Racine to the late Frederick L. and Avis (nee: Clark) Wensing Sr.

Fred graduated from Washington Park High School in 1947, and went on to receive a degree in Mechanical Engineering from UW-Madison. He married Rosemary T. Mianecki on Aug. 10, 1957 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church. Fred worked for Grede Foundries for 28 years before retiring in 1992. Prior to that he worked for J.I. Case Co. and Outboard Marine Corporation. He was a dedicated member of St. Richard Catholic Church.

Growing up, Fred was active in sports, particularly basketball, baseball, and golf. He played for a Chicago Cubs’ farm team, and also played in local leagues with his friends. He also enjoyed camping trips with his family.

Left behind to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 61 years, Rosemary Wensing; his children,  Marcia Wensing (Joe Reeves), Annemarie (John) Meier, Fred (Kelly Jensen) Wensing III, Sarah Wensing (Lori DeHart), Michael (Cheryl McDonald) Wensing; grandchildren, Sydney Meier, Andrew Wensing, Lyndsey Wensing, Devon Wensing, Benjamin Wensing; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Julius (Grace) Mianecki, Patricia (James) Shea; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends. In addition to his parents, Fred was preceded in death by his son Thomas, and his sister, Doris Wensing.

There will be a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday at 11 a.m. at St. Richard Catholic Church, 1503 Grand Ave. The Rev. Allen J. Bratkowski will officiate. Friends and relatives can meet with the family from 9:30 to 11 a.m. There will be private interment. In lieu of flowers, memorials to St. Richard Catholic Church, American Heart Association, American Diabetes Association or to one’s favorite charity have been suggested.
