There’s a new exhibit at the Racine Art Museum (RAM) that focuses on jewelry and metalwork. Open from January 27 through August 4, 2019, it features select archive artists from RAM’s collection. Identified in 2013 as having the largest contemporary craft collection in the U.S., RAM is a treasure trove for artwork.
Unlike some other institutions, RAM is invested in showcasing an artist in depth, rather than a few pieces from many artists. Some of the archive holdings include the works of Toshiko Takaezu and Margaret Ponce Israel.
There are two campuses of the Racine Art Museum. One is located in downtown Racine at 441 Main Street and the other is the Charles A. Wustum Museum of Fine Arts at 2519 Northwestern Avenue.
Both campuses of the Racine Art Museum, are open Tuesday – Saturday 10:00 am – 5:00 pm, and are closed Mondays, Federal holidays and Easter. RAM is open Sunday Noon – 5:00 pm, while Wustum is closed Sundays. An admission fee of $7 for adults, with reduced fees for students and seniors, applies at RAM. Admission to Wustum is free. Members are always admitted without charge to either campus.
