Shortly after 9 p.m. Sunday evening, Racine County Sheriff’s units were dispatched to the 33000 block of Yahnke Road in the town of Burlington for a report of a single-vehicle accident.

The Racine County Communication Center (RCCC) was informed that the vehicle had struck a utility pole. Significant damage was reported to the vehicle. First arriving deputies on scene reported that the driver, a 19-year-old man, was conscious and breathing, but trapped in the vehicle. The driver was the only occupant of the vehicle.

Town of Burlington Fire Department crews freed the driver, who was then transported to an area hospital by Flight for Life. A preliminary investigation by the Racine County Sheriff’s Department indicates speed was a contributing factor to the accident, according to a release from the department.
