The Mount Pleasant Village Board Monday voted in favor of a proposal from Advocate Aurora Health to build a 22,500-square-foot primary care and urgent care clinic at Spring Street and Sunnyslope Drive in Mount Pleasant.
Construction is likely to begin this spring, announced a release from the healthcare provider.
“This clinic supports our overall plan for expanded services and access to primary care throughout this growing region,” said Lisa Just, president of Advocate Aurora Health’s Racine Kenosha Lake Patient Service Area.
“We are pleased by the commitment that Advocate Aurora is making in our community to meet the area’s growing health care needs,” Mount Pleasant Village President Dave DeGroot said.
The clinic will include 26 exam rooms, four urgent care rooms plus two procedure rooms. In addition to primary and urgent care, the new site will offer imaging, blood draw, and laboratory services. Space also has been allocated for a future pharmacy.
The clinic is estimated to create 30 jobs when it becomes fully operational. The new positions will include seven primary care and urgent care physicians and a range of nurses, medical assistants, patient service representatives, X-ray technologists, and other team members.
This project is a component of Advocate Aurora Heath’s overall plan to expand health services to meet the area’s rapidly growing health care needs. In May 2018, Advocate Aurora Health announced a multi-pronged plan to build a medical center and medical office building on the northeast corner of Interstate 94 and Highway 20 in Mount Pleasant supported by two additional health center clinics within the Greater Racine community. The project approved by the Village Board on Monday is one of those two clinics.
