No one was injured in a house fire that happened Thursday afternoon at a residence located at 1134 Park Ave.

Fire crews from the Racine Fire Department responded to the home at 12:59 p.m., according to a press release by the Racine Fire Department.

The owner — Joseph C. Coe — was home inside his bedroom at the time when heard a smoke alarm go off. Coe checked the basement. Discovering heavy smoke, he called 911. When the fire crews got on scene, they were able to contain the fire to the basement.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation. Officials with We Energies responded to the home and turned off the utilities. Coe will stay with family while repairs are being made to the home.

The estimated loss is $30,000.
