On Tuesday, the Racine County Sheriff’s Office received a complaint of a suspicious person photographing a person’s vehicle in the 1400 block of 13th Avenue in Union Grove. A deputy, responding to the report, arrived in the area to find a man pointing a handgun at another man. The responding deputy “quickly de-escalated the incident and began investigating,” according to a release from the Racine Sheriff’s Department.

An investigation determined the person taking photographs of the vehicle was a concerned citizen that resided in the area and believed the vehicle to be suspicious. The complainant, a passenger of the vehicle, believed the concerned citizen was acting aggressively and in a hostile manner while photographing them and approached the citizen, pointing a firearm at him.

During the investigation, numerous witnesses advised our agency that the citizen was not in any way acting aggressively or in a hostile manner and provided a photograph of the encounter.

Christopher J. Ebner, 25, Racine, was subsequently arrested for Intentionally Pointing a Firearm at Another Person and Recklessly Endangering Safety. He was transported to the Racine County Jail and is being held on $5,500.00 total bond.
