A Racine man is being held on a $25,000 cash bond after he was charged by the Racine County District Attorney’s Office Tuesday with stalking and physically abusing his ex-girlfriend and their infant.
Antonio D. Williams, 26, of Racine, was charged with stalking, first degree recklessly endangering safety, physical abuse of a child, two counts of battery, four counts of disorderly conduct, three counts of criminal damage to property, and criminal trespassing.
If convicted of all charges, Williams faces up to 56 years 9 months in prison and/or fines up to $109,000.
Stalking occurred over seven months, says DA
According to the criminal complaint, Williams assaulted his ex-girlfriend, stalked her and threatened to kill her several times over the course of the last seven months.
Deputies with the Racine County Sheriff’s Department responded to a report of domestic abuse at Quality Inn, 910 S. Sylvania Avenue on August 29. The woman had fled to the hotel but Williams found her and assaulted her while she was holding their eight-month-old baby. She was also pregnant at the time.
Williams slapped the woman, struck her with a closed fist and shoved her. She fell to the ground, making her drop the baby. Williams then started “kicking and stepping on the eight-month-old baby” during the fight. He then took off on foot, the criminal complaint reads.
A few months later, Williams assaulted the woman twice in the same day on December 8. He punched and kicked her, making her fall to the ground. Police noted that she had a large bump by her eye because she hit her face on a radio. When Williams came back, he kicked in a door that had been bolted shut and threw a beer at her relative. She was still pregnant at the time.
Williams confronted the woman again December 30 while she was in the car. He demanded that he see the baby. When she refused to let him see the baby because of the domestic abuse, he struck the window of the car three times with a rock and shattered it. She fled to a nearby COP House.
Williams falls asleep in woman’s apartment
In January, Williams had kicked in the door to the woman’s apartment.
“(The woman) stated that she did not immediately call the police because she was scared of what the defendant may do,” the criminal complaint reads.
Williams fell asleep. The woman gathered up her children and left her home. She called the police so that they could arrest him because he had several active warrants. But Williams texted her, asking her where she was and she told him she was calling the police.
When she returned back home, Williams was no longer there. He had flipped over a dining room table and damaged two televisions.
Racine County Clerk of Courts Alice Rudebusch set a cash bond for $25,000. A preliminary hearing has been set for 8:30 a.m. March 6.
