MOUNT PLEASANT, WI –  A deceased person was found partially submerged in a pond Sunday morning in the 3400 block of South Oakes Road.

Officers with the Fox Lake Police Department called the Mount Pleasant Police Department to request a welfare check on a missing person. They explained that the person had not been seen or heard from in over a day. The person’s cell phone was still operational and pinged to an area in southcentral Mount Pleasant, according to a press release by the Mount Pleasant Police Department.

The name of the person has not been released. The person’s family told the Mount Pleasant Police Department that their loved one “might have been in Mount Pleasant fishing.”

An officer with MPPD found a car near a retention pond used for fishing. They then found the person partially submerged in the pond.

After removing the body from the water, it was taken to the Milwaukee County Medical Examiner’s Office. Police wanted to have a definitive cause of death. But the initial investigation did not reveal anything suspicious.

Anyone with information on this incident is asked to call the Mt. Pleasant Police Department at 884-0454 option 4 or Crime Stoppers at (262) 636-9330 or via e-mail through the website www.racine.crimestoppersweb.com,
