Every wine has a story, whether it is the winemaker, the region or the people that make it. Each month we will feature four wines that we sell at Uncorkt and make them available to sample on the third Friday of each month.

This month our complimentary tasting is from 5 until 7 p.m. May 17 at Uncorkt, 240 Main St. If you are so inclined, you may then enjoy a glass at our wine bar for $5 or purchase a bottle of wine at 15% off the normal retail price, that day. Enjoy!

Riondo Prosecco

Our tasting this week starts with Riondo Prosecco Spago Nero. “Spago Nero” means “black string” in Italian. Riondo Spago Nero is named after the prosecco’s original black string closure, still featured on some of the Riondo’s bottles!

Riondo Prosecco Spago Nero is an authentic sparkling wine that celebrates the easy-living spirit of Italy. This vino frizzante boasts fresh aromas of Golden Delicious apple, pear, and acacia blossom. Its persistent effervescence is followed by a crisp, clean finish. While delicate and fruity on the palate, this prosecco is the perfect choice to either sip by itself or mix to make a bubbly cocktail.

Fizz 56 Sparkling Red

Fizz 56 Sparking Red wine comes from a small winery nestled in the heart of Piedmont region of Italy. This winery is known for their outstanding Brachetto, which is a grape native to Italy and rare in other wine-growing regions. Brachetto is a light-bodied red grape, highly aromatic and naturally effervescent. Consequently, Fizz 56 Brachetto Spumante is a sparkling, red, sweeter, Italian wine.

More than just a wine, Fizz 56 is a personality. Fizz 56 is as sweet as a first kiss and as seductive as the memory of it. A brand designed with Millennials in mind, Fizz 56 begs to be talked about and tasted. A showstopper that is not only alluring, but also irresistibly delicious.

Lady Lola Pinot Grigio/Moscato

The winemaker Michela was born in Tuscany, Italy and has been passionate about the vines and wines since her teenage years. She is a third-generation grower, with her father and grandfather always working the vineyards.

There is only one Pinot Grigio – Moscato blend in Italy. The grapes are grown on the Western coast of Sicily, between the towns of Palermo and Trapani, where the grapes mature under the sunny sky and fresh breezes from the Mediterranean Sea. Both Moscato and Pinot Grigio find the perfect growing conditions for making this unique Lady Lola blend.

Niner Estates Red Blend

This wine is produced by Bronco Wine Company, which is a family-owned winery committed to growing, producing and selling the finest quality wines of the highest value to their customers. They are currently the fifth largest winery and the largest vineyard owner in the United States.

All grapes in the Niner Estates Red Blend are grown at one of three estate vineyards on the Central Coast of California. The wine is a blend of some of their most powerful varietals – Cabernet, Cabernet Franc, Malbec, Syrah, Petit Sirah, Merlot, Petit Verdot, and Carmenere. Each grape is picked at night and hand-sorted at the winery the following morning. Each varietal is fermented and barreled independently, and aged 14 months in French and Hungarian Oak. This wine is full bodied, and fruit driven accented by soft tannins and excellent acid.

Stop at Uncorkt, 240 Main St., from 5 to 7 p.m. May 17 for a complimentary sampling of these four great wines. Cheers!
