Racine – There are a limited number of openings still available for the City of Racine Parks, Recreation and Cultural Services (PRCS) summer playground programs. Registration is open to youth 4 years old through 8th grade and is taken at the City Hall Annex, 800 Center Street, Rm. 127, Monday-Friday from 8 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
The fee for Racine city residents is $70 and for non-city residents (Caledonia, Mt. Pleasant, and other municipalities/villages) is $100. Registration is taken on a first-come, first-served basis until sites are full with each session limited to 30 participants. Participants may sign up for multiple sessions, however child care is not available over the lunch hour.
The PRCS nine-week playground programs are theme-orientated and supervised by college students extensively trained as leaders. Participants attend Monday through Thursday in either a morning or afternoon session. Activities include organized games, field trips, free play and weekly special events. Playground programs begin Tuesday, June 18 and conclude on Tuesday, August 13.
Kiddie Korner, for ages 4-6 years old, holds morning sessions at 8:45-11:30 a.m. and afternoon sessions at 1:45 – 4:30 p.m. Openings are still available for morning and afternoon sessions at Pierce Woods Park and afternoon sessions at Lockwood Park. To be eligible for this program, a child must be 4 years old by June 18, 2019. New participants must provide proof of age in the form of a birth certificate, baptismal certificate or passport at the time of registration.
All other programs hold morning sessions 8:30 – 11:30 a.m. and afternoon sessions 1:30 – 4:30 p.m. Grade is based on the school year as of May 1, 2019. The following locations still have openings:
- Future (grades 1-3), morning and afternoon sessions at Humble Park; afternoon sessions at Lockwood Park.
- Play It Again (grades 4-5), and The Bigs (grades 6-8) morning and afternoon sessions at Humble Park and Lockwood Park.
