UPDATE: Over 2,000 We Energies customers remain without power Wednesday morning. Whole trees toppled over. Power lines were down in some areas of Racine while others seemed untouched. Most of the damage happened between 3 Mile Road and Gould Street, and east of Douglas Avenue to Lake Michigan.

ORIGINAL STORY: After a severe thunderstorm whipped through the area at about 5 p.m. Tuesday, a number of people came home to a mess and over 7,500 Racine County residents are without power.

Trees, powerlines, and stoplights are down. We’ll keep you posted.
