Every wine has a story, whether it is the winemaker, the region or the people that make it. Each month we will feature four wines that we sell at Uncorkt and make them available to sample on the third Friday of each month. This month our complimentary tasting is from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Friday, July 19th. If you are so inclined, you may then enjoy a glass at our wine bar for $5 or purchase a bottle of wine at 15% off the normal retail price, that day. Enjoy!
Stone’s Throw – Field White Blend
It’s what we do here at Stone’s Throw Winery in Door County… Combining our access to small lots of premium grapes from California’s finest growing regions: Napa, Sonoma & Monterey Counties with our commitment to traditional wine making practices: small tank fermentation, judicious use of oak barrels, attention to detail, plus the belief that with great grapes and minimal handling, fine wine makes itself!
In the early 1900’s California’s newly arrived Italians intermixed their vineyard plantings with several different varietals to produce wines that reminded them of their homeland. This “field blend”, as it is known, is rarely practiced today but we respect the depth and character it provides. We craft our version of mixed varietals for your (and our) enjoyment!
Our family blend of three delicious grapes…Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Grigio, Field Blend White pairs great with cold shrimp or just a fine summer day! Quite nice.
The history of the Frescobaldi family starts over a thousand years ago and is closely connected with the history of Tuscany. At the high point of medieval Florence, the Frescobaldis spread their influence as bankers, earning the title of treasures to the English crown. A little later, with the flowering of the Renaissance, they became patrons of major works in Florence, such as the construction of the Santa Trinita bridge and the Basilica of Santo Spirito.
Villa di Remole, in the heart of Tuscany, is the cradle of the 700 years of history and tradition of the Frescobaldi family. Remole is an intense, soft and fruity wine that will captivate and delight you. Particularly suited for full-flavored first courses, charcuterie and red meat.
Wild nights and ignoring parental advice had pretty much let to our most epic tales of debauchery. Be brave, get weird, kiss a stranger, grow a beard. Just go with it! Never be boring. Embrace your reckless love with Reckless Love Wines. The following two wines are made by this winery:
Sunday Funday Sauvignon Blanc
This wine has got some serious California style. Sunday Funday is a lively stainless-steel fermented Sauvignon Blanc. To keep it fun, we sought out grapes with tropical fruit flavors (yes, you can count this for your daily fruit requirement) and a refreshing profile that is reminiscent of a cool coastal breeze! It’s the perfect partner to complete your Sunday Funday to-do list.
Get in for the real thing and stick your nose right in that glass to smell aromas of tropical fruit and citrus. The crisp and refreshing entry of pineapple and fresh cut grass leads to a vibrant finish of citrusy goodness. This wine is like going back to that all-inclusive resort with the swim up bar, but without the sun burn.
Reckless Love Red Blend
Made from legit California grapes that will totally score with your taste buds. Remember that moment when you kissed your high school crush? Opening a bottle of this Red Blend is like going back to that moment in time. Just kidding, it’s way better…and less awkward.
Clearly, it’s smooth! A velvety entry palate that seamlessly integrates soft tannins like a boss. This full-bodied wine is provocative, with bold flavors of black cherries, and blackberry. The finish lingers just long enough for you to reflect on it, then keeps you coming back for more.
Stop at Uncorkt on Friday, July 19th, from 5-7 p.m. for a complimentary sampling of these four great wines. Again, if you desire you can enjoy a full glass of any of these wines for only $5 or purchase a bottle for 15% off the normal retail price. Cheers!
