RACINE, WI- A teen stands accused by the Racine County District Attorney’s Office of having a gun when he had previous orders from a felony case not to possess one.
Alyjiah Richmond, 17, of Racine, was charged with possession of a firearm by an adjudicated delinquent, possession of a dangerous weapon by a person under 18, and obstructing a police officer. If convicted of all charges, Richmond faces up to 11 years six months in prison and/or fines up to $45,000.
According to the criminal complaint, officers with the Racine Police Department responded to a report of a man with a gun who was getting into a green car on Thursday in the 1600 block of Packard Avenue. After locating the car, several officers “converged” on the car with guns drawn.
Five people were in the car. Four of them complied with the officers’ orders, but Richmond took off running. Officers gave chase and ordered Richmond to stop, but he continued to run. Other officers found Richmond near 9th Street. A black .45 handgun was found in a yard at 918 Racine Street, the complaint reads.
A witness told police he saw Richmond with a gun. He is 17-years-old and was convicted in December with second-degree recklessly endangering safety. He was ordered not to have a gun.
Racine County Court Commissioner Alice Rudebusch set a cash bond of $1,500. She also set a preliminary hearing for 8:30 a.m. Thursday at the Racine County Law Enforcement Center.
