The Zero Waste Committee of Greater Racine, the VGR Eco-WAVE team, and Greening Greater Racine are set to present a Zero Waste Resolution to the Racine City Council on Tuesday evening. Aldermanic sponsors of the resolution include: Mary Land, Jason Meekma, Trevor Jung, and Mollie Jones.
The purpose of the resolution is to delay the closure of Kestrel Hawk landfill, which is on its last cell and set to close within five years. After passage, the hope is the city of Racine will “develop programs, projects, and promotions to carry out the provisions of the resolution.”
Those who wish to express their thoughts on the resolution can do so Tuesday, July 16th from 7:00 to 7:30 p.m. at the Racine City Hall, 730 Washington Avenue.
