Help Wanted, employment, southeastern Wisconsin

Racine County Eye is dedicated to helping its readers, which is why we started a weekly employment podcast called Help Wanted.

In our very first episode of Help Wanted, Kate Walker, talent and recruitment specialist with the Racine County Economic Development Corporation, talks about where the jobs are and the labor shortage area businesses are experiencing. She calls it a huge math problem because there just aren’t enough people to do the work in health care, service jobs, food and beverage, the trades, transportation and IT.

People can learn more about the labor shortage on WisConomy, which identifies 50 hot jobs in Wisconsin. But knowing what jobs are experiencing shortages isn’t enough. People need to connect to the education and skills training around those jobs.

In our episode, she mentioned several programs designed to help people become more employable.

5 resources that can help you skill up

  1. WRTP Big Step
  2. First-Choice pre-apprenticeship program
  3. Uplift 900
  4. Racine Vocational Ministries
  5. Higher Expectations

So grab some coffee and enjoy the first podcast.
