RACINE, WI – A 43-year-old man is in police custody after an officer shot at him because he was pointing a compound bow at them at 10:22 p.m. Saturday in the 1900 block of Erie Street.
The man was not struck when the officer shot at the man and no one was injured, according to a press release by the Racine Police Department issued Sunday afternoon.
Officers responded to the area for a report of domestic disturbance. When they arrived at the scene, a 43-year-old man pointed a bow at them. An officer fired his duty weapon to stop the threat. The man then surrendered and was taken into police custody.
The officer, a five-year veteran of the department, has been placed on administrative leave until the matter can be investigated.
Because the shooting did not result in a fatality, the investigation will be handled by the department.
