RACINE COUNTY, WI — Foxconn officials are moving ahead with two major construction projects in the Wisconsin Valley Science and Technology park, company officials said Wednesday.
According to Foxconn, Mortenson has been named as the construction manager as they partner with local company officials to build both a Smart Manufacturing Center and a High-Performance Computing Data Center. Mortenson is headquartered in Milwaukee, and is considered one of the state’s top construction contractors
“Foxconn is happy to announce this new partnership with Mortenson, who for the last 30 years, has been constructing landmark facilities throughout the state,” said Joe Lambke, Operations Director for Foxconn’s Wisconsin Data Center said in a statement Wednesday. “As Foxconn develops the Wisconsin Valley Science and Technology park, anchored by the nearly 1,000,000-square-foot Gen 6 Fab, we are excited to begin the next phases of this project with facilities that will support smart manufacturing, AI initiatives, high-performance computing and more.”
Separate from the Gen 6 Fab, company officials at Foxconn said the tech giant plans to build a 260,000-square-foot Smart Manufacturing Center located in Area 1 of the Wisconsin Valley Science and Technology park. The Smart Manufacturing Center will be a high-mix, low-to-medium volume production facility that primarily manufactures components for server racks. In addition, Foxconn continues to evaluate additional design options for a High-Performance Computing Data Center that meets the needs of the company, as well as the needs of business, academic and community partners.
Combined, the Smart Manufacturing Center and High-Performance Computing Data Center will add to the list of Foxconn facilities either constructed, or currently constructed at the Wisconsin Valley Science and Technology parkincluding the Multipurpose Building, Power Substation and Gen 6 Fab.
