MOUNT PLEASANT, WI – A man is in stable condition following a one-vehicle crash involving a Dodge pick-up truck that smashed into a ditch and vaulted into a light pole near Lathrop Avenue and Judith Lane Sunday evening.

Officers with the Mount Pleasant Police Department were called to a report of a blue Dodge pick-up truck that had crashed into a ditch. Once on scene, they found a male driver had been injured. Rescue personnel from the South Shore Fire Department transported the man to Ascension-All Saints Hospital emergency room. He was later taken by Flight for Life to Froedtert Medical Hospital for further treatment, according to a press release by the department.

“Officers while investigating this crash discovered that the truck was driving at a high rate of speed southbound on Lathrop Avenue and was called in an as Reckless Driver ,” the press release reads. “The truck left the roadway in the 5000 Block and vaulted into a light pole and caused further damage. WE Energies responded to fix and secure the electrical pole, no power outage resulted.”

Officers continue to investigate the crash, which “appears as reckless high speeds and possible impairment may have caused this crash,” according to the press release.
