UPDATE: The Racine Police Department released Tuesday the name of the person shot and killed as Darrle Dotson, 54. The investigation continues.

There are no suspects in custody at this time, according to a press release by Sgt. Adam Malacara.

RACINE, WI – A 54-year-old man was shot to death Friday night in the 900 block of Walnut Street and a suspect has been taken into custody.

Officers responded at 8:21 p.m. for a report of shots fired in the area. They found that the 54-year-old Racine man had been shot in the leg, according to a press release by the Racine Police Department.

“Life-saving measures were attempted and the victim was transported to Ascension Hospital,” the press release reads. “The victim eventually succumbed to his injuries.”

The area where the shooting took place was located and police are investigating. A suspect was taken into police custody. His name has not been released pending the investigation.
