Yorkville, WI — The report of a crash in the 17300 block of Durand Ave. shortly before 2 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 2 led to 2 separate arrests for drunk driving.
When deputies from the Racine County Sheriff’s Department arrived on the scene of the crash they discovered a telephone pole knocked over, wires strewn across the road and a severely damaged silver Dodge Ram pickup truck stuck in a ditch approximately 100 feet from where it struck the pole.
Both occupants were still inside the vehicle and reported no injuries.
The 46-year-old driver of the truck, Scott W. Healy refused standardized field sobriety tests, but a preliminary breath test revealed a breath alcohol content of .245, over 3 times the legal limit of .08.
Healy was arrested for OWI 1st offense and Failure to Maintain Control.
While deputies were still on the scene investigating the incident, a black Cadillac Escalade drove past and nearly struck one of the officers.
A traffic stop was initiated and the 52-year-old driver of that vehicle, Steven Douglas Doughty was taken into custody for OWI 1st offense and Failure to Move Over/Slow Down for Emergency Vehicles, after failing to pass standardized field sobriety tests.
