The Johnson Foundation at Wingspread today announced Marcus White has been named President of the world-class Conferences that Inspire Solutions conference center. In this capacity, Mr. White will oversee strategic programming, partnerships and business operations for the storied Racine, Wisconsin-based foundation. He starts officially in January 2020, succeeding Roger Dower who announced his retirement earlier this year.

About Marcus White
Born in England, White grew up in communities throughout the Midwest and has called Milwaukee home for nearly 30 years. He holds an A.B. in political science and religion from Wabash College, and an M.S. in Urban Studies from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. A college sabbatical in South Africa working in the anti-apartheid movement, which included internships with Archbishop Desmond Tutu, Koinonia and Africa Enterprise, ignited his lifelong passion in engaging diverse groups around conversations and solutions for the betterment of the community. This passion defines White’s career and contributions to Southeastern Wisconsin.
As Executive Director of the Interfaith Conference of Greater Milwaukee he led ecumenical efforts on poverty and homelessness, and championed advocacy initiatives focused on racial equity, restorative justice and affordable housing, among others. Most recently, he served as Vice-President – Civic Engagement, Greater Milwaukee Foundation where he developed new strategies, policy agendas, public/private partnerships and increased funding opportunities to drive positive impact in the community. Mr. White has served on numerous public and non-profit organization boards, has received accolades and honors for his lifelong service to the Milwaukee community, and is a sought-after speaker and frequent contributor to national, regional and local media.
