MOUNT PLEASANT – A Racine man and a Kenosha man were each charged by the Racine County District Attorney’s Office with possession of a firearm by a felon after a weekend traffic stop here.
According to the criminal complaint, a Mount Pleasant Police officer stopped a vehicle for speeding about 1:45 a.m. Saturday near Taurus Drive and Highway 38. The driver was identified as Keadrian L. Belt-Dixon, 28, of Racine. A passenger in the vehicle was identified as Antonio C. Rhinehouse Jr., 25, of Kenosha. The officer reported the smell of marijuana coming from the car.
The officer located a Taurus .357 magnum, loaded with five rounds, on Belt-Dixon’s person. A second gun – a Glock 23 loaded with 24 rounds with on top of the seat but underneath Rhinehouse, according to the complaint.
Rhinehouse stated that Belt-Dixon had picked him up at his Kenosha home and the two had driven to an apartment near 17th Street and Memorial Drive where Belt-Dixon dropped off another firearm with a long magazine. Belt-Dixon then told him that they “were gonna go up to Milwaukee to drop off the other firearms because someone got into some trouble,” Rhinehouse told police. He added that he did not know where in Milwaukee they would be going or who had gotten into trouble. He had knowledge of the firearm being in the vehicle.
Belt-Dixon stated that he doesn’t own the vehicle but primarily drives it. He stated that the firearm found on his person was his but had no knowledge of the other firearm in the vehicle. He also refused to answer questions related to the ownership of the firearm, where they were coming from and where they were going, the complaint stated.
Both men have been previously convicted of offenses that prohibit them from possessing firearms, according to the complaint.
Belt-Dixon and Rhinehouse were being held in the Racine County Jail as of Monday afternoon.
