West Allis Nathan Hale poked just enough holes in Brookfield Central’s defense to garner a taut 21-14 victory during this Wisconsin football game.
“It was a fantastic win for the players and Hale High School as a whole,” West Allis Hale head coach Scott Pritzl said. “The kids played their hearts out and battled all 48 minutes.”
After a scoreless first quarter, Brookfield Central running back Drew Edmond put the Lancers on the board with a four yard rushing touchdown. In the third quarter, West Allis Hale responded as quarterback Ty Clark connected with Lukas Collings on a three yard touchdown pass to make it 7-6.
West Allis Hale added on in the fourth quarter with a 43-yard rushing touchdown from Clark before Zach Drake took one in from one yard out to make 21-7. Edmond put the finishing touches on the scoring with a two yard touchdown run.
Clark led the way for the West Allis Hale passing game going 22-for-30 for 278 yards with one touchdown, while also rushing for 81 yards on 15 carries. Tobey Sayeg also had 78 yards on 18 carries, while Connor Johnson led all Hale receivers with eight catches for 123 yards.
“Ty Clark was the difference maker,” Pritzl said. “Just a terrific performance for the Senior Captain.”
Brookfield Central’s passing attack was led by Robert Bloom, who had 41 yards passing and 64 yards rushing. Edmond led the Lancers’ rushing attack with 78 yards rushing on 12 carries.
West Allis Hale’s Jacob Ruedinger led all defensive players in the game with 10 total tackles, while Bennett Murray and Jack Tinnen led Brookfield Central with eight total tackles apiece.
With the win, West Allis Hale improves to 2-1 and will take on Brookfield East at home this week. Brookfield Central falls to 0-3 and will travel to Kenosha Indian Trail this week.
“Going into the Brookfield East game, we are going to need to improve our tackling and ball security,” Pritzl said. “We have our hands full with them & we hope to make it a game in the 4th quarter.”
