Franklin raced to a big lead and never looked back in a 35-7 win over Green Bay Port during this Wisconsin football game.

Wisconsin commit Myles Burkett used his connection with Keaton Arendt to his advantage in the first half as two connected on three touchdown passes as the Sabers grabbed a 28-0 lead at the half. Terrance Shelton and Tanner Rivard both provided Franklin with rushing touchdowns as Franklin extended the lead to 35-0 before the final quarter.

“Great week of practice allowed for great results on the field,” Franklin head coach Louis Brown said. “Keaton and Myles have a great connection and Coach Ambrose does a great job of getting him open.”

Early in the fourth quarter, Bay Port finally got on the board as Cole Benson hit Nathan Forystek on a 14-yard touchdown to cut into the lead.

Burkett had only three incompletions in the game as he threw for 353 yards passing in the victory, Rivard led the way in the rushing attack with 51 yards on eight carries. Tim Thiry led Franklin with 15 tackles, while Carson Walkowiak had 14 in the game.

Franklin advances to Level Four of the WIAA playoffs and will play Appleton North this week.

“Appleton North is as physical of a team as we have played this year and we will have to match that physicality.  It will be a hard nosed physical game and low man will have the advantage,” Brown said.  “They have gotten way better defensively and have several weapons on offense with a huge offensive line.  It is what an opponent should be like in a semifinal game.”
