The Caledonia Police Department is searching for individuals to join their 2nd Annual Citizens Police Academy. This program, aiming to educate participants about the various areas of law enforcement, meets for 9 weeks starting Sept. 7 and goes until Nov. 2. Applications are due by May 27 at 3 p.m. in order to enroll.
Individuals who apply must be at least 21 years of age and must live or work in Caledonia to participate, per the Caledonia Police Department. The Citizens Police Academy offers the opportunity to become more informed about law enforcement, allowing citizens to develop a positive partnership with the police department.
Citizens Police Academy will cover topics such as:
- Media relations
- Police ride-along
- Narcotics enforcement
- Defense and arrest tactics
- Criminal investigations
- Crime prevention
- Drunken driving detection
- K9 program
- Use-of-force scenarios
- Weapons demonstrations including the Taser X-2
Citizen Police Academy brochures and applications are available at the Caledonia Police Department located at 6900 Nicholson Rd. Applications can also be picked up at the Village of Caledonia, 5043 Chester Lane. Once your application is completed, mail or return it to the Caledonia Police Department.
