RACINE – They danced, they laughed, they danced some more. An “electric” video shoot was just the thing on this chilly Saturday to put the pep in these folks’ steps.

About 100 area residents gathered at the Corinne Reid-Owens Transit Center, 1417 State St., on Saturday morning to dance the Electric Slide to the tune “Electric Boogie.” It was a shooting session for a music video celebrating the arrival of nine, new battery-electric buses to the Racine Transit (RYDE Racine) fleet.

Video director Matt Binetti and crew used a camera-equipped drone to capture the dancers and riders inside and outside the buses. The video’s performers ranged from everyday citizens to school musical participants to bus drivers, to elected officials to members of the Root River Rollers women’s Roller Derby league. Everyone was encouraged to dress in bright colors.

Transit Director Trevor Jung said plans call for the music video to be released on April 27, the day the new buses officially begin revenue service.

In the meantime, here are photos and a video of Saturday’s fun.
