UPDATE: A 23-year-old Kenosha man is in custody, and his vehicle was impounded after Mount Pleasant police officers say he struck a pedestrian Saturday night and fled the scene.

According to a press release from MPPD, officers and South Shore Fire rescue personnel were called at 8 p.m. Saturday to the 800 block of Newman Road for a report of a pedestrian hit by a car. The caller told dispatch the vehicle fled immediately after striking the person.

When responders arrived on scene, they found a person suffering from serious injuries. They were taken by Flight for Life to Froedtert Hospital where MPPD said they were listed in critical but stable condition.
