RACINE – Racine police say one of the men responsible for the shooting death of Demond Hicks is now in custody.
According to a press release from the Racine Police Department, a 28-year-old Racine man was arrested Friday during a traffic stop initiated by the Special Investigations unit. The man was booked into the Racine County Jail on the the following charges: PTAC (Party to a Crime) 1st Degree Intentional Homicide, Possession w/ Intent to Deliver THC, Maintaining a Drug Trafficking Place, 2 counts of Felony Bail Jumping, and 3 counts of Misdemeanor Bail Jumping.

On Saturday, Feb. 26, 2022, Racine Police officers were dispatched at 3:45 a.m. to the 1600 block of Cleveland Avenue for a report of shots fired. Officers found Hicks, 36, of Racine, lying in the middle of the street with multiple gunshot wounds upon their arrival.
Hicks did not have a pulse as life-saving efforts were beginning. Efforts continued while he was being transported to the hospital, however, all revival attempts were unsuccessful.
