Gateway Technical College is hosting its 14th annual Celebrate Earth Day event on April 23. The event will be held in person from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the Gateway’s Kenosha Campus, 3520 30th Ave., and Gateway’s Elkhorn Campus, 400 County Road H. This popular celebration is open to the public. It provides a fun atmosphere and hands-on activities for all ages to learn how to be stewards of the environment.
“We’re excited to offer a wide range of activities, displays and information for adults and children at Celebrate Earth Day,” said Abbie Ford, Gateway manager of community relations and communications. “We’re also excited to be able to offer the event in person this year, and hope the public will come to celebrate the environment with us at both campuses.”
Celebrate Earth Day – Kenosha Campus
New this year, the Kenosha campus will feature vendors located in the Pike Creek Horticulture Center. Additionally, new activities will be featured in key areas of the event. For a full guide to all activities for the day, please go to Gateway’s website and visit their designated page for the event.
Prior to the event at the Kenosha campus, there will be a Pike Creek cleanup event taking place on campus from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. on April 23. Those interested should meet at the Pike Creek Horticulture Center.
Celebrate Earth Day – Elkhorn Campus
At the Gateway Technical College Elkhorn Campus, there will be a drive-thru event for Earth Day. The event will feature a free gift for each family, a take-home children’s activity, a donation drive to benefit the Walworth County Food and Diaper Bank, and electronics recycling.
For over the past decade, this event has served as a resource and educational experience for the community. It’s drawn in thousands of people to learn and grow. Join the college this year on campus to learn more about Earth Day and the environment.
