Obituary for Sandra ‘Sandy’ Kay Governatori

December 6, 1950 – April 19, 2023

Sandra “Sandy” Kay Governatori, 72, passed away on Wednesday, April 19, 2023, surrounded by her family.

Sandy was born to the late Ervin and Audrey (nee Veenstra) Beyer on Dec. 6, 1950, in Racine. She was united in marriage to Lawrence “Larry” Governatori on Feb. 20, 1971, at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Racine.

Sandy had a 28-year career as a registered nurse at St. Luke’s/St. Mary’s Hospital in Racine. She enjoyed reading, sewing and escape rooms. Sandy was a master puzzle solver, trivia guru, and avid video gamer. She enjoyed playing Xbox and computer games. She also had a love for cats. Sandy was an awesome cook. Her family would say she made the best desserts. Sandy enjoyed traveling and has been to places such as England and Australia. Above all, she was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother.

Sandy will be deeply missed by her husband, Larry Governatori; children: Greg (Shelly) Governatori, Maureen (Donny) Joyce, and Aaron (CJ) Governatori; grandchildren: Kylee (Ben), Alexandria, Sophia, Brooke, and Sebastian; sister, Barbara (Harrison) Heublein; sister-in-law, Lorrie (Bud) Boehler; brother-in-law, Ray (Barb) Governatori; along with many other relatives and friends.

Services

Inurnment with a service of committal for Sandy will be held at Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery on Thursday, April 27, 2023, at 10 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Sandy’s name may be directed to a charity of your choice.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Compassus Hospice for their wonderful care of Sandy.
