Obituary for James William Molbeck

August 4, 1931 – May 10, 2023

James William Molbeck, 91 passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, May 10, 2023.

James was born in Racine on Aug. 4, 1931, the son of the late Bernt and Gertrude (nee: Bertelsen) Molbeck. He was united in marriage to Shirley Skelton on Aug. 9, 1952. James graduated from William Horlick High School. While there, he enjoyed playing many sports, especially basketball. Following his graduation he enlisted in the Marine Corps and proudly served his country. After his service, Jim worked at Western Publishing Company as an accountant until his retirement. He then worked for the City of Racine as an umpire and referee. Before his retirement from the city, Jim taught umpire school for many years.

While he helped raise his seven children, he was active in his church as a deacon and Sunday School Teacher. Jim’s greatest pleasures were spending time with his wife and children. He enjoyed watching his family expand.

Jim is survived by his children: Debbie (Jeff) Pulda, Kim (Jeff) Staven, Scott (Kim) Molbeck, Kelly (Mark) Borkovec, Randy Molbeck, and Tracie (Don) Herode; brothers: twin brother, Jack (Judy) Molbeck, and Ralph (Brenda) Molbeck; grandchildren: Brian, Cori and Amy Pulda, Joshua, Jaymie and Jessica Christofferson, Kari and Megan Johnson, Jake and Eric Staven, Samantha and Scooter Molbeck, Charles and Danielle Raine, Matthew, Michaela, Mc Kenzie and Mitchell Borkovec, Andrew Molbeck and Cody Larson, Ashley and Taner Bacon, and Hailey, Donnie, and Brittany Herode; 28 great-grandchildren and still counting.

James was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley; his daughter, Cheryl Gaskill; and his sisters, Jean and Evie.

Services

Memorial Services will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, May 23, at Sturino Funeral Home, 3014 Northwestern Ave. There will be a time for family and friends to meet at the funeral home on Tuesday from 11 a.m. until the time of service. Private interment will take place at West Lawn Memorial Park.
