Obituary for Phyllis Bixler

November 16, 1938 – May 27, 2023

Phyllis Bixler (nee: Dorrance), 84, of Rochester, Wis., formerly of Waterford, passed away on May 27 at Holton Manor in Elkhorn, Wis.

Phyllis was born on Nov. 16, 1938, to Dr. Thomas and Helen Dorrance. Phyllis married the love of her life, Paul Bixler, on Aug. 20, 1960, in Indiana. Phyllis earned her bachelor’s degree in education. She moved to Waterford, Wis., in 1962. Phyllis also was a resident of Indiana, Ohio, Montana, and Yellowstone.

Phyllis was a grade school teacher in Livingston, Montana, and The Waterford Graded School District. Phyllis was also a Cub Scout leader and volunteered at St. Luke’s Hospital, The Waterford Library, and the Methodist Church. She was a member of the Methodist Church since 1962.

Phyllis is survived by her husband Paul and three children, Jeffery (Gail), Mike (Pennie), and Chris (Stephanie). She is further survived by her grandchildren, Jacob, Anna, Rachel, Bridgette, and Rosa Grace.

Phyllis is preceded in death by her parents, sister Susan Dykstra, and grandson Aaron Bixler.

Services

A celebration of Phyllis’ life will be held from 3 to 4:20 p.m. on June 6 at Community Church, followed by a 4:30 p.m. service and a meal to be served afterward in the fellowship hall.

Memorial donations in Phyllis’ honor are suggested to the Waterford Public Library or Community Church in Waterford.
